Retired PAF officer dies in accidental shooting in Batangas

SAN JOSE, Batangas – A retired Philippine Air Force (PAF) officer died after he accidentally shot himself while cleaning his handgun on Wednesday afternoon, June 14, in Barangay Naturuan here. Victim was identified as Florencio Nitro, 67, a retired second lieutenant. Investigation said Nitro was cleaning his licensed Armscor caliber .45 pistol in his house when it accidentally went off. The victim sustained a bullet wound in the chest and died on the spot. Investigators recovered the gun, an empty magazine, a deformed slug, a fired cartridge of caliber.45, lubricant spray, and a piece of rug from the scene.
