Yellow rainfall warning raised in Manila


 A yellow rainfall warning has been raised over the City of Manila on Sunday, June 11, due to heavy rains caused by the southwest monsoon (habagat) and typhoon "Chedeng" (international name Guchol).

The yellow rainfall advisory in the city was announced by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Sunday morning.

Under this advisory, moderate to heavy rains are expected for the next three hours, and floods are expected in low-lying areas.

Meanwhile, the Manila Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (MDRRMO) also announced a flood advisory on Sunday.

The southwest monsoon, strengthened by typhoon Chedeng, caused gutter-deep floods along National Bureau Investigation in Taft, San Sebastian Church, Padre Faura, and United Nations Station as of 11:40 a.m.

According to the weather forecast released by MDRRMO, there is a 70 percent chance of rain from 5 a.m. to 12 p.m. and a 90 percent chance of rain from 12 p.m. to 11 p.m. (Richielyn Canlas)
