  • “Hindi ako natatakot for TVJ. Because these people are Eat Bulaga.  Sila yun eh.  Di ako natatakot.  Alam kong magfo-flourish pa rin.  Hindi sila mawawala.  Imposibleng mangyari yun,” predicted a cool Ice Seguerra.

No matter how solid and cold, ice can melt when it is exposed to heat – especially warmth that comes from deep within.  Such a truism became even more evident when versatile performer, singer/songwriter, and LGBTQIA Champion Ice Seguerra was asked about the recent departure of the Tito, Vic, and Joey trio from the country’s longest-running noontime show, Eat Bulaga.

“Sobrang surreal pa rin sa akin dahil isang institusyon talaga yung Eat Bulaga eh. Para mawala ng ganun-ganun lang,” said Seguerra in an interview during the recent Manila Pride Ball held at the Newport World Resorts in Pasay City.

Seguerra, as a three-year-old, started a lucrative showbiz career in Eat Bulaga in the mid-1980, participating in the popular TV show’s “Little Miss Philippines” segment.  Subsequently, Ice became a mainstay in the program from 1987 to 1997.  Even outside of EB, the former child star appeared on TV with fellow host, Vic Sotto in other movies and television programs.  No wonder why Ice feels bad about the recent turn of events that saw her mentors finally getting booted out from the show.

“Di yata deserve.  Pero, maybe there’s a reason why it happened.  Kasi nga, bakit mo pagsasamahin ang dalawang entity na hindi na naman masaya,” Seguerra commented.

Lately, not-so-friendly words have been exchanged between the trio and the executives of TAPE Inc., producers of Eat Bulaga, as an aftermath of their shocking parting of ways. Eat Bulaga has also recently aired and moved on with a new set of hosts and performers. Setting these things aside, Ice is certain that the TVJ trio will not just find a new home but will continue to thrive on television in the years to come.

“Hindi ako natatakot for TVJ. Because these people are Eat Bulaga.  Sila yun eh. Di ako natatakot.  Alam kong magfo-flourish pa rin. Hindi sila mawawala. Imposibleng mangyari yun,” predicted a cool Ice Seguerra.

Of late, TV5 has announced that Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto and Joey de Leon are all headed to their respective backyards.  I guess we’ll all just have to be be ready for their next surprising “Bulaga” move.
