Newborn baby boy abandoned in sugarcane field in Negros

BACOLOD CITY – A sugarcane worker found a newborn baby boy in a sugarcane plantation in Barangay Poblacion 2, Sagay City, Negros Occidental on Friday, May 5. The worker heard a baby’s cry, prompting him to search for the origin of the noise.

According to investigators,  the worker, upon checking, saw the baby wrapped in a piece of cloth, with the umbilical cord and placenta still attached to him. Sagay police chief Police Lt. Col. Roberto Indiape Jr. said the baby was taken to a hospital for medical examination. Indiape said they are investigating some individuals who might be responsible for leaving the baby in the area.
