Marcos meets with Gatwick Airport officials in UK

President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. said he gained valuable insights that could help improve Philippine airports after meeting with officials of the London Gatwick in England.

Marcos said this as he arrived in London for the coronation of King Charles III. His attendance was confirmed by Malacañang last month,

In a tweet on early Saturday, May 6 (Manila time, the President said a representative of the royal court received him upon his arrival in the United Kingdom for the coronation.

According to the President, he toured Gatwick Airport and talking to its officials.

He said he learned valuable insights that could help improve the airports in the Philippines.

"We made the most of our time at Gatwick Airport, meeting with its executives and taking a comprehensive tour," Marcos said.

"We gathered valuable insights to improve Philippine airports and boost tourism at home," he added.

According to the Office of the President, the Chief Executive sought to learn the best practices of Gatwick Airport's operations from his tour, and see new technological advancements in the North Terminal.

The Presidential Communications Office (PCO) said that London Gatwick is the world's second-busiest airport by total passenger traffic that covers a total area of 674 hectares.

Among those with President Marcos were Filipino Ambassador to the United Kingdom Teodoro Locsin, Jr., House Speaker Martin Romualdez, and Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista.

Marcos arrived in the UK immediately after his four-day official working visit to Washington, DC.
