PRO-13 Director Police Brig. Gen. Kirby John B. Kraft ordered field unit commanders to utilize their available men in the field to secure individuals visiting their departed loved ones in cemeteries and memorial parks in the region.

Augmenting police are barangay tanods (watchmen) and “Patrolya ng Bayan” volunteers.

Kraft also directed regional, provincial, and city mobile force commanders as well as provincial and city directors and municipal chiefs of police to implement their security plans for “Undas.”

Security coverage includes the enforcement of prohibited acts and practices in cemeteries such as bringing of firearms, bladed weapons, drinking of alcohol, gambling, loud music, and other forbidden activities as specified in the respective local ordinances related to the observance of the occasions.

“It is expected that more individuals will arrive at all cemeteries and memorial parks in the different parts in the region compared to the previous years due to the long weekend and declaration of a non-working holiday in observance of this year’s Undas,” PRO- 13 Regional Public Information Office (RPIO) chief Police Major Jennifer S. Ometer said.

PRO-13 will also establish police assistance desks and hubs in all cemeteries, national highways, airports, seaports, terminals, malls, and other strategic areas.

Police maintain checkpoints on  roads and will establish at least one police assistance center in every cemetery with the local government units, civilian volunteer organizations, health personnel, and civic clubs.

There are more than 200 cemeteries, memorial parks, and other places of convergence in the five provinces and six cities in the Caraga region.

PRO-13 urged the public to follow health protocols mandated by the local government units and health authorities.

Police reminded the public to take the necessary precautions when leaving their houses unattended and report suspicious activities to the nearest police unit.
