“Once it is finalized, we will be coming out with our school calendar for 2023-2024 which will indicate dates when we will start classes,” Poa said.

As part of the preparations for the opening of the incoming school year, DepEd has started the conduct of Early Registration for public schools on May 10 and will end on June 9.

The Early Registration is for incoming Kindergarten, Grades 1, 7, and 11 learners in public schools.

DepEd said that all learners in the said grade levels in public elementary and secondary schools need to pre-register or participate in the early registration to allow the Department to “make the needed preparations and adjustments of plans for the incoming SY.”

Classes in public schools for the current school year opened on Aug. 22, 2022.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, DepEd opened the SY 2020-2021 on Oct. 5 and SY 2021-2022 on Sept. 13 under distance learning.
