2,332 cops deployed for Holy Week in Western Visayas


ILOILO CITY – The Police Regional Office (PRO)-6 has deployed 2,332 policemen to secure the Holy Week in Western Visayas.

PRO-6 chief Brig. Gen. Leo Francisco ordered all police units to fully implement security and public safety plans.

Police presence have been strengthened in key locations in Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, Iloilo, and Negros Occidental as well as the highly urbanized cities of Iloilo and Bacolod.

These include churches, bus terminals, seaports, airports, and key tourist destinations such as world-famous Boracay Island in Aklan.

Police have been conducting random checkpoints as well as established Police Assistance Desks, mobile and detective patrols, and other crime prevention measures.

Major Mary Grace Borio, PRO-6 spokesperson, said they are augmented by 764 personnel from the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and 2,808 force multipliers from barangays  as well as advocacy groups.
