2 Iloilo City intel cops in murder try sacked

ILOILO CITY – Two police officers assigned to the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) have been sacked from their posts following their alleged involvement in the attempted murder of a man suspected to be a thief last month.

Police Executive Master Sgt. Jessie Jim Rubio and Police Staff Sgt. Enrico Gonzales of the ICPO Intelligence Unit were transferred to Regional Personnel Holding Accounting Section (RPHAS) of the Police Regional Office (PRO-6).

“They were relieved from their post pending administrative investigation,” said Police Col. Joeresty Coronica, ICPO director.

Rubio and Gonzales were among the six suspects in the attempted murder of Glen Paloma, who pretended to be dead when they left his body in a rice field in Leganes town, Iloilo province last March 26.

A frustrated murder case was filed before the Iloilo Provincial Prosecutor’s Office against the suspects last week.

“While they may have done it in their personal capacity and not as police officials on duty, we do not tolerate their actions,” Coronica said.

“They give a bad image to the Philippine National Police (PNP),” Coronica added.
