Sablayan Prison in Occidental Mindoro has new superintendent

A new superintendent has been assigned to the Sablayan Prison and Penal Farm (SPPF) in Occidental Mindoro, the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) said.

BuCor said that C/Supt. Robert A. Veneracion took over the post as SPPF superintendent from C/Supt. Eliseo J. Belvis under Special Order 2023-0211 issued by C/CSupt. Geraldo I. Aro, BuCor’s director for administration.

It said the turnover of the command was held last March 20.  The ceremony was attended by Sablayan Mayor Walter Marquez and Vice Mayor Edwin Mintu.

During the turnover, BuCor said that Veneracion lauded the work done by Belvis at the SPPF.

“He also acknowledged the improvements and great leadership of Belvis throughout his tenure,” it said.

It also said that Veneracion assured “to continue the legacy of the former administration and lay down his initial plan in the Education Section which is the community involvement of teachers, and named it as ‘Corrections Officer ko, Teacher ko!’”

For his part, BuCor said that Belvis “expressed his deepest appreciation to his deputy superintendents, officer-in-charge (OICs) of sub-prisons, and SPPF workforce for their collaborative efforts and unwavering support throughout his journey as superintendent of SPPF.”

Aside from the SPPF, the six other prison facilities of BuCor are the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City; Correctional Institution for Women (CIW) in Mandaluyong City; Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan; San Ramon Prison and Penal Farm in Zamboanga City; Leyte Regional Prison in Abuyog, Leyte; and Davao Prison and Penal Farm in Panabo, Davao Province.
