Quiapo Church sets activities for Nazareno 2024


The Minor Basilica and National Shrine of the Black Nazarene, more popularly known as the Quiapo Church in Manila, has released the schedule of activities for the celebration of the feast of the traslacion of the Black Nazarene.

Festivities will begin on Saturday, Dec. 30, with the Thanksgiving procession at 11:30 p.m.within the vicinity of the Quiapo Church.

The novena masses will be held from Dec. 31 to Jan. 8 at 6/p.m. and will be live-streamed on Radio Veritas 846AM .

The barangay visitation will be held from Jan. 1 to 6 while the blessing and procession of Black Nazarene replicas will be held on Jan. 3 and 4 respectively.

On Jan. 6, a holy mass will be celebrated at 6 p.m. for the volunteers of Nazareno 2024. It will be followed by the traditional “Pahalik” at 7 p.m. at the Quirino Grandstand. The “Pahalik” will be held until the eve of the feast on Jan. 8.

On Jan. 8, the “Panalangin sa Takipsilim” will be held at 5:30 p.m. followed by the vigil for the feast.

Fiesta masses will be celebrated on Jan. 8 at 3 p.m. until 11 p.m. On Jan. 9, Manila Archbishop Jose Cardinal Advincula will preside over the Misa Mayor (High Mass) at the Quirino Grandstand at midnight.

The traditional traslacion procession, which has not been held since 2020 because of the pandemic, takes a twist this year with the revered Poong Hesus Nazareno to be paraded inside a glass case.

The fiesta masses, the Misa Mayor and the actual procession of the Black Nazarene from the Quirino Grandstand back to the minor basilica will be aired live on Radio Veritas 846AM, DZRV facebook page, Cignal channel 313 and Sky cable channel 211.

At the Quiapo Church, 33 holy masses will be held for the celebration of Nazareno 2024. The theme for this year’s celebration is “Ibig naming makita si Hesus” (We want to see Jesus) from the Gospel of St. John 12:21.
