Pateros Mayor Miguel Ponce III reminded the public that there is a firecracker and fireworks ban in the municipality.
“Our ordinance on firecracker and fireworks ban is in place and is being enforced even before the pandemic. Right now we have no reported firecracker related injuries,” he said.

Municipal ordinance 2020-35 imposes a ban on firecrackers in Pateros. Under this, people and establishments are prohibited from selling, buying and using firecrackers and fireworks.
The ban is aimed at preventing injuries caused by firecrackers and fireworks especially on New Year’s Eve when people celebrate to welcome the new year.
Interior and Local Government Secretary Benhur Abalos earlier urged local government units (LGUs) to pass an ordinance to ban the use of firecrackers and individual fireworks displays.
