PPP Center aids LGUs in infra implementation

The Public Private Partnership (PPP) Center will assist members of the Union of Local Authorities in the Philippines (ULAP) enhance their skills in developing and carrying out infrastructure projects.

In statement, Ma. Cynthia C. Hernandez, PPP Center executive director said they will provide assistance to local government units (LGUs) in the creation and implementation of financially viable projects in their regions.

On Wednesday, Dec. 20, Hernandez and ULAP National President Gov. Dakila Carlo E. Cua forged a Memorandum of Agreement that will provide a framework for cooperation and coordination, and develop a robust pipeline of PPP projects.

ULAP is the umbrella organization of all leagues of LGUs and local government officials in the country.  

“The PPP Center will continue to promote its services to LGUs in helping develop and implement bankable projects in the regions,”  the PPP Center said.

“The Center will continue to assist ULAP’s constituent members in building their capacity to develop and implement PPP projects,” it added.

“With the enactment of the PPP Code, the PPP Center and ULAP are both confident that more high-impact PPP projects will be delivered in the regions,” it added.

Eleazar Ricote, PPP Center deputy executive director, earlier said that over 109 public-private projects worth a total of P2.4 trillion are currently in the pipeline.

Of these projects, 97 will be implemented at the national level while the other 12 at the local level, Ricote said.

The Marcos administration recently signed into law the PPP Code or Republic Act 11966, which will incorporate best practices from decades of experience in implementing the Build-Operate-Transfer Law, and ensure better infrastructure projects and mitigate risks during its implementation.
