Med tech student who shot fellow student in Cagayan faces charges


TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan – The student who shot a fellow student in the parking lot of the Saint Paul University Philippines here on Monday afternoon, November 13, is facing charges of frustrated murder and violation of the election gun ban.

Police Capt. Ana Marie Anog, information officer of the Tuguegarao police, said suspect Kristian Rafael Ramos, a third-year medical technology student, was surrendered by his parents to the police and his getaway vehicle was recovered in Barangay Gosi Norte here.

Police found a live ammunition and a magazine with three bullets and fired cartridge in the suspect's vehicle.

The victim, Althea Vivien Mendoza, a resident of Ilagan City, Isabela, also a third-year medical technology student, was shot in the parking lot of the Saint Paul University Philippines.

A school security guard and library staff noticed the victim shouting for help inside a parked car. They saw the suspect inside the vehicle physically assaulting the victim.

Mendoza alighted from the vehicle with the suspect following moments later armed with a gun.

The two witnesses ran away and the suspect shot the victim.

Mendoza was taken to the Cagayan United Medical Doctors Hospital here and on stable condition as of Tuesday, November 14.
