Big Bang member G-Dragon’s ‘unusual’ behavior at airport gets scrutinized following drug probe

K-pop boy band Big Bang member G-Dragon’s “unusual” behavior at the airport is being scrutinized by netizens following his being booked by the police on drug charges.

On Oct. 25, Korean media outlet News1 reported that G-Dragon was booked without detention by the Incheon Police Agency for violating the law on drugs.

The police declined to give details about G-Dragon, saying, "Because it is an ongoing investigation, we cannot reveal specific details."

G-Dragon’s former agency, YG Entertainment, said in a statement, "It is difficult to respond officially as he is not currently an artist under our company." G-Dragon’s contract with the agency expired last June.

The new drug controversy came 12 years after G-Dragon was accused of smoking marijuana in Japan in 2011.

At the time, YG Entertainment said someone gave G-Dragon a cigarette that turned out to be marijuana. He said he had a few puffs and then threw it away after realizing that it had a different taste.

G-Dragon initially tested negative after a urine test but tested positive during a hair drug test.

Prosecutors decided not to charge him since only a small amount was found in his body.

Netizens are now scrutinizing a video filmed on May 8 showing G-Dragon arriving at Incheon International Airport to board his flight to attend the Chanel 2023/2024 Cruise Show.

In a video, uploaded by Korean media outlet Newsen, as soon as G-Dragon got out of a car, he appeared to twist and sway, and seemed to have trouble walking.

He kept removing his beanie and putting it back, and scratching his head.

In a video interview with Elle Korea uploaded on Oct. 25 last year, Korean media reported that G-Dragon kept rambling and fidgeting.

Here are some of the top comments by Korean netizens on a news article about G-Dragon being booked by the police on drug charges, according to blog Netizen Buzz:

- “Not surprised... at all”

- “He always did seem to behave similarly to Yoo Ah In”
