Acorda graces 122nd Police Service Anniversary at PRO-1


CAMP FLORENDO, La Union – The Police Regional Office-1 (Ilocos) celebrated the 122nd Police Service Anniversary with Philippine National Police chief Police Gen. Benjamin C. Acorda Jr. as guest of honor and speaker at the Agora Event Center, Thunderbird Resorts, Poro Point, City of San Fernando, La Union on Friday, October 20.

Acorda feted nine regional outstanding police officers and civilian staff, six regional outstanding police units, and six special awardees, inaugurated three new PRO-1 building facilities, and turned over of new patrol vehicles and equipment during the event.

During the program, Police Brig. Gen. John C. Chua, PRO-1 director, presented their administrative and operational accomplishments for the year.

 “PRO-1 has improved the peace and order situation in the Ilocos region. We achieved a 98 percent crime clearance efficiency and 72 percent crime solution efficiency, and a 95.38 percent conviction rate in the campaign against illegal srugs,” said Chua.

“Notably, we arrested 3,431 wanted individuals, recovered 1,694 firearms, and apprehended 243 suspects in violation of RA10591 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002). We also confiscated 1,564.25 grams of shabu, 1,722.95 grams of marijuana and arrested 838 drug suspects, resulting in the seizure of P10,843,638 worth of illegal drugs,” he added.

He said that PRO-1 has been improving frontline services. “We have significantly improved frontline police services by the construction of 17 buildings and facilities, including police stations, provincial offices, and other essential infrastructure,” Chua said.

According to Chua, the PRO-1 also invested in Information and Communications Technology infrastructure through the S.M.A.R.T. Policing Program to support the chief PNP’s Five-Focused Agenda and the government's digitalization goals. 

“In addition, we've improved access to the National Police Clearance System, made all computers IT compliant, achieved a 98.51 percent rating for Communication Technology Utilization, and 100 percent compliance with CCTV systems. We've also launched a Systematic Messaging and Communication Tracker System to monitor and manage communication effectively,” he added.

Acorda, together with Police Major Gen. Jon A. Arnaldo, commander of the Area Police Command-Northern Luzon and the PRO-1 Command Group, awarded distinguished units and individuals who displayed  outstanding performance in the pursuit of peace and order.

The PNP chief lauded the men and women of PRO-1 for their sincere efforts in the police anti-criminality campaign.  “To the brave men and women of PRO-1, I commend you for your relentless efforts in the fight against criminality, illegal drugs, and insurgency. Your dedication to protecting the people of Northern Luzon is truly commendable. You are the frontline defenders, and your actions make our communities safer,” Acorda said.
