Armed man nabbed in Ermita, Manila


The Manila Police District (MPD) arrested a man for gun possession while riding a motorcycle  in Ermita, Manila, on Wednesday, Oct. 18.

The MPD-Ermita Police Station (PS-5) identified the suspect as JV Rebuse.

Based on the initial police investigation, the suspect was on board his motorcycle around 12:30 a.m. and traveling along Sta. Monica Street, service road at Barangay 668 in Ermita.

The authorities who were conducting motor and detective patrols in the area spotted him with the handle of a firearm protruding from his right waist.

They immediately flagged down the suspect and arrested him for possession of a .9 millimeter caliber armscor with a magazine containing eight pieces of ammunition.

The police added that the suspect failed to present any firearm documents.

The suspect is now at PS-5 and will face charges for violation of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, and Batas Pambansa 881 Omnibus Election Code of the Philippines, police said.
