OCD 4-A receives 500 boxes of absorbent pads for oil slicks


BATANGAS CITY – The Office of Civil Defense 4-A received on August 29 500 boxes of absorbent pads from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources 4-A to contain oil slicks in Calatagan, Batangas.

OCD 4-A officer-in-charge and Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon Regional Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council chairman Reyan Derrick Marquez handed over these to Batangas Coast Guard Station Commander Victoriano Ronaldo Acosta.

The turnover was  witnessed by Batangas Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office head Amor Banuelos-Calayan and Calatagan Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office Ronald Torres.

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Calabarzon headed by Regional Executive Director Nilo Tamoria will also provide these absorbent pads to other provinces in the region, particularly local government units of coastal areas, to help them respond to oil slicks.

The OCD 4-A will distribute these and the Batangas PDRRMO will transport them.

OCD 4-A advised residents of coastal communities in Calatagan and neighboring towns to be vigilant and observant of oil slicks in their areas.

The Philippine Coast Guard assured the public of necessary response actions to manage oil slicks efficiently and effectively.
