“We advice them to resort to the conduct of on-line classes or even suspension of classes if and when necessary,” he said.
The mayor said based on the municipal government’s assessment, the transport strike will affect a few college or high school students who not residents of Pateros.
“We believe that the effect of this transport strike if any will only be limited to few college and high school students who are not residents of Pateros but are residing in nearby barangay of neighboring cities,” he said.
He added, “Nevertheless, these students can also be transported by tricycles. we do not expect any problem with elementary students as they are from Pateros and transportation by tricycle are readily available.”
Ponce said he will suspend classes on Monday if the strike will affect the mobility of students.
“However if we can observe by the first day of the strike that effect is grave on the mobility of students, we can resort to suspension of classes if necessary. We have reserved three (3) vehicles for libreng sakay starting Monday and have earmarked a considerable amount for the gasoline. We can augment number of vehicles if we will see the need to do it,” he said.
The Manibela transport group will go on strike from March 6 to 12 to protest the government’s PUV Modernization Program.
