Filinvest leads sustainable development category at FIABCI Awards; Gotianun Yap named 'Property Woman of the Year'

Filinvest won three golds and a silver award at the recently concluded Property and Real Estate Excellence Awards organized by the Philippine chapter of Paris-based International Real Estate Federation (FIABCI). The awards reflect the company’s commitment to sustainability, balancing economic growth with social and environmental responsibility across its diverse business operations.

Filinvest won gold in the Residential Mid-Rise category for Botanika Nature Residences and in the Sustainable Development category for Filinvest City. Filinvest REIT Corp. (FILRT), the company's real estate investment trust (REIT) and the first sustainability-themed REIT in the Philippines, also won gold in the Office Development category and silver in the Sustainable Development category.

Josephine Gotianun Yap (4th from right), president and CEO of Filinvest Development Corporation and CEO of Filinvest Land Inc., is named FIABCI's Property Woman of the Year. She is accepting the award from FIABCI officials and guest of honor Senator Joseph Victor Ejercito, accompanied by former Ambassador of the Philippines to Singapore Joseph Del Mar Yap (on her right) and Filinvest Land Inc. president Tristan Las Marias (leftmost).

In addition to its awards, Filinvest Development Corporation President and CEO, and Filinvest Land Inc. CEO Josephine Gotianun Yap was named FIABCI’s first "Property Woman of the Year." This is another historic win for Gotianun Yap who last year became the first woman to receive the "Real Estate Personality of the Year" award at the Philippines Property Awards by PropertyGuru.

"In our industry, collaboration is crucial to the success of any project. I thank FIABCI and share this award with the Filinvest team and the many industry practitioners we work closely with. Today, sustainability is at the forefront of our developments, and we are grateful that Filinvest excelled in the sustainable development category. Being the first 'Property Woman of the Year' is also an honor and highlights the importance of inclusivity, another hallmark of our company mission," said Gotianun Yap.

Axis Tower One, which won silver in the sustainable development category, is one of 17 world-class, Grade A office buildings in FILRT's portfolio. It is one of two FILRT buildings that are Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold certified. These buildings are in Filinvest City, which itself won Gold in the Sustainable Development category. Filinvest City is the only central business district (CBD) in the country to receive LEED Gold for Neighborhood Development Plan certification, as well as the first CBD to receive a 3-star BERDE certification.

“We are proud to have been awarded the gold title for the office development category and the silver title for the sustainable development category for Axis Tower One. These awards underscore our unwavering passion for creating sustainable office buildings that champion future-forward initiatives,” said Maricel Brion-Lirio, president and CEO of Filinvest REIT Corp. "At FILRT, our expansion plan is rooted in bringing into the portfolio green, high-value assets that attract tenants who share our vision of a real estate future that prioritizes sustainability in all aspects."

FILRT is currently working on a glide path towards increasing the percentage of renewables in its electric supply. FILRT buildings are also served by the Philippines’ largest District Cooling System (DCS) which supplies chilled water to the air-conditioning system. This saves up to 40 percent on power consumption, 20 percent on water consumption, and reduces greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to 11,500 tons of carbon dioxide annually.

Filinvest and FIABCI Philippines share a commitment to excellence and innovation, which is reflected in these awards. This recognition is a testament to Filinvest's dedication to empowering Filipinos to attain their dreams.
