Zubiri, Romualdez receive ‘good’ net satisfaction rating, Gesmundo ‘moderate’ — SWS


Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri and Speaker Martin Romualdez got “good” net satisfaction ratings, while Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo received “moderate” rating, according to the results of a Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey released on Monday, Feb. 27.

The SWS survey revealed that 58 percent of Filipinos were satisfied and 10 percent dissatisfied with Zubiri, 49 percent satisfied and 12 percent dissatisfied with Romualdez, and 37 percent satisfied and 13 percent dissatisfied with Gesmundo.

The resulting net satisfaction ratings (percentage of satisfied minus percentage of dissatisfied) were +47 for Zubiri and +37 for Speaker Romualdez—both classified by SWS as “good,” and a “moderate” +24 for Gesmundo.

According to SWS, Zubiri’s net satisfaction rating was higher in Mindanao at very good +59 than the good levels in the Visayas at +45, Balance Luzon at +44, and Metro Manila at +41.

“Compared to October 2022, it rose from +28 in Metro Manila and +50 in Mindanao, while it hardly moved from +41 in Balance Luzon. It fell from +55 in the Visayas,” SWS said.

Moreover, net satisfaction with the Senate President was higher in rural areas at very good +57 than in urban areas at good +39.

Compared to October 2022, SWS said it rose from +47 in rural areas while it stayed at +39 in urban areas.

By basic demographics, the survey firm said Zubiri’s net satisfaction rating was a very good +52 among the 45-to-54-year-olds and good among the rest of the basic demographics, ranging from +41 to +49.

“Compared to October 2022, it either rose or barely changed in all basic demographics except among the 35-to-44-year-olds, where it fell from +51, and among college graduates, where it fell from +54,” SWS said.

Net satisfaction with Romualdez ‘good’ in all areas

SWS said the net satisfaction rating of Romualdez was highest in Metro Manila at +46, followed by the Visayas at +43, Balance Luzon at +34, and Mindanao at +33–which were all classified as “good.”

“Compared to October 2022, it rose from +37 in Metro Manila, while it hardly changed from +31 in Balance Luzon, +42 in the Visayas, and +36 in Mindanao,” it pointed out.

The net satisfaction with Romualdez was also good in both rural (+41) and urban (+33) areas.

Compared to October 2022, it rose from +34 in rural areas, while it hardly changed from +36 in urban areas.



The House Speaker also received good net satisfaction rating in all basic demographics (ranging from +34 to +45) except among the 35-to-44-year-olds at moderate +26.



Compared to October 2022, it either rose or hardly moved across basic demographics except among the 35-to-44-year-olds, where it fell to +43.



Gesmundo receives highest net rating in Metro Manila



SWS noted that Chief Justice Gesmundo’s net satisfaction rating was highest in Metro Manila at good +39, followed by moderate levels in Mindanao at +25, Balance Luzon at +22, and the Visayas at +21.



Compared to October 2022, SWS said his net rating rose from +26 in Metro Manila, while it fell from +30 in Balance Luzon and +25 in the Visayas.



Meanwhile, it hardly moved from +28 in Mindanao.



The net satisfaction with Gesmundo was at moderate levels in both rural (+28) and urban (+21) areas.



“Compared to October 2022, it hardly moved from +26 in rural areas but fell from +30 in urban areas,” SWS said.



Moreover, the net satisfaction with Gesmundo was at moderate levels in all basic demographics except for good levels among the 18-to-24-year-olds (+34) and 45-to-54-year-olds (+31).



“Compared to October 2022, it either fell or hardly moved in all basic demographics except among the 45-to-54-year-olds, where it rose from +26,” it pointed out.



The fourth quarter 2022 SWS survey, which was conducted from Dec. 10 to 14, 2022 used face-to-face interviews of 1,200 adult respondents nationwide.



It has error margins of +/-2.8 percent for national percentages and +/-5.7 percent each for Metro Manila, Balance Luzon, the Visayas, and Mindanao.
