BATANGAS CITY -- A 44-year-old butcher wanted in Batangas province for rape and two counts of rape through sexual assault was arrested by the joint elements of national and local police operatives on Thursday, Feb. 16 in Barangay Reformista in Limay Bataan.
Batangas Police provincial director Pedro Soliba identified the suspect as Romulo Perez, a resident of Barangay Anilao in Mabini town.
He is classified as the most wanted person at the national level with a P140,000 reward for his arrest from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).
Judge Ismael Macasaet of the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 1 in Batangas City issued the warrant of arrest on December 3, 2018, against Perez. No bail was recommended for rape while the recommended bail for two counts of rape through sexual assault is P200,000 each.
Joint elements of Northern Police District (NPD)-District Special Operation Unit, NPD Directorate for Investigation and Detection Management Division, NPD Directorate for Intelligence Division, NCPS Intelligence Section, Intelligence Group, Limay Municipal Police Station-Bataan PPO, Police Regional Office 3, and NPD District Special Operations Unit served the arrest warrant around 8:10 p.m. in Limay, Bataan.
According to police records, the incident took place on March 26, 2018, after the victim was entrusted by her father to the suspect’s house while he was at work. The suspect is the godfather of the victim. The victim was raped while playing inside the suspect’s room.
