DMCI Holdings Inc. and subsidiary Semirara Mining and Power Corporation have been included as members of the prestigious 2023 Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index (GEI) for the third consecutive year.
Bloomberg GEI is a modified market capitalization-weighted index that aims to track the performance of public companies committed to transparency in gender-data reporting.

GEI measures gender equality across five pillars: leadership & talent pipeline, equal pay & gender pay parity, inclusive culture, anti-sexual harassment policies, and external brand.
“Diversity and representation matter. When different voices and perspectives are included in the conversation, companies benefit from a wider range of ideas and insights,” said DMCI Holdings and SMPC Chairman Isidro A. Consunji.
Only four listed companies in the Philippines joined the 2023 GEI roster that includes 484 companies headquartered in 45 countries and regions.
Member companies represent a variety of sectors, including financials, technology, and utilities, which continue to have the highest company representation in the index from 2022.
"Congratulations to the companies that are included in the 2023 GEI," said Peter T. Grauer, Chairman of Bloomberg and Founding Chairman of the U.S. 30% Club.
He added that, "We continue to see an increase in both interest and membership globally, reflecting a shared goal of transparency in gender-related metrics.”
DMCI Holdings and SMPC submitted a social survey created by Bloomberg, in collaboration with subject matter experts globally.
Those included on this year’s index scored above a global threshold established by Bloomberg to reflect disclosure and the achievement or adoption of best-in-class statistics and policies.
Both the survey and the GEI are voluntary and have no associated costs. Bloomberg collected this data for reference purposes only. The index is not ranked.
While all public companies are encouraged to disclose supplemental gender data for their company’s investment profile on the Bloomberg Terminal, those that have a market capitalization of $1 billion are eligible for inclusion in the Index.
DMCI Holdings is the only publicly listed holding company in the Philippines that has construction as its core competency. Its businesses are pioneers and key players in the construction, real estate, energy, mining and water industries.
SMPC is the largest coal producer in the Philippines, and the only domestic power firm that generates its own fuel.
