Security guard nabbed for robbing pawnshop in GMA, Cavite


CAVITE – A security guard was arrested for robbing a pawnshop in Barangay San Gabriel, General Mariano Alvarez (GMA), on Wednesday, Jan. 11.

GMA Municipal Police Station (MPS) identified the suspect as Michael P. Comutohan, 47 years old, a former member of the Philippine Army who has been escorting very important people (VIP).

Initial investigation disclosed that the suspect entered the pawnshop and declared a holdup, taking P16,000 cash and a cell phone.

Upon backtracking of the CCTV footage, authorities learned that Comutohan went to his relatives in Barangay Olaes after the commission of the crime.

The suspect was later arrested in a hot pursuit operation.

Confiscated from Comutohan were a handgun, two magazines with live ammunition, a hand grenade, three cell phones, P15,130 cash, and three plastic sachets of suspected "shabu."

Also seized during the operation were a set of tactical clothing and various identification cards.

The suspect is now under the custody of GMA MPS, and the pieces of evidence were brought to the Provincial Forensic Unit for examination.
