I’m no fan of circus. (bilang daig pa ng circus ang showbiz!) I don’t remember asking my parents to bring me to one. (ok na ko sa paglalaro ng Barbie!) But I could sense that our niece from Italy, Lily (who is on vacation here in Manila ) would love to see performers doing some stunts and antics, we thought of bringing her to Newport Performing Arts Theatre to witness the Super American Circus. (Thank you NewPort World Resorts PR Director Joee Guilas for the support ha!)
Three-year-old Lily fell asleep while on our way to the theatre (daig pa yung nagtaping magdamagan!) We could not wake her up, even if we were already inside the venue. (baka magmaktol!) But an aerial ballerina at the start of the show caught her attention. (nagising ang bagets!) The performer was hanging on the ledge below a motorcycle rider with no harness (lambitin galore si ate mo girl!)
Nearly two dozen artists, acrobats, aerialists, ballerinas, contortionists, jugglers, singers and dancers from Hawaii and Florida performed unbelievable stunts on stage. They didn’t have the usual circus animals like tigers, lions or elephants but it didn’t affect the show’s entertainment value. (gawin ba namang circus yung teatro!)
There were series of daredevil balancing acts with different themes. (basta yung ayaw nila tumigil at pakabog!) They also included some comedy antics in between performances to initiate interaction with the crowd. (para rin makahinga sa mga buwis buhay na mga paglipad at paglambitin sa ere!)
The final act was simply amazing. Three motorcycle riders and a lady performer entered a cage of steel for what they call the Globe of Danger act. The riders managed to move upside down and side by side in full speed. (pamatay sila ha!)
Lily and the other kids in the audience enjoyed every show’s segment. (dami rin ring blonde bagets na tulad nya ha!) Their adult companions were also entertained. (basta ako bet ko yung mga boys na nagpakita ng abs!)
The Super American Circus team is set to perform in Cebu, Davao, Cagayan de Oro and Ilocos Norte. (makapag-audition nga! magsplit ako ala Mystica!)
