28 Bicol police generals, colonels submit resignation

LEGAZPI CITY (PNA) – Two generals and 26 colonels from the Police Regional Office in Bicol (PRO-5) tendered their resignation on Monday, Jan. 9, in support of the Department of the Interior and Local Government's (DILG) effort to clean the police force.

PRO-5 director Brig. Gen. Rudolf Dimas led the signing of the courtesy resignation of the 27 third-level police commissioned officers at Camp Simeon Ola in this city.

In a statement, Dimas said his resignation is a strong demonstration of support to the call of DILG Secretary Benhur Abalos Jr. on police officials with ranks of full colonel to general to submit courtesy resignation.

"Like all good soldiers, we shall follow the lawful orders of our superiors. We rally behind the noble intention of the SILG (Secretary of the Interior and Local Government) to cleanse the Philippine National Police (PNP) of scalawags and corrupt officers," Dimas said.

He said the call is both a challenge and an inspiration to do more, work harder, and strive to perform even better in the campaign against illegal drugs.

"And we assure the public that they can continue to rely on their police officers to serve and protect the community even as we go through this trying period for the police organization," Dimas added.
