The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Thursday, Sept. 29, started printing the ballots for the December 2022 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan polls.
The printing of the more than 91 million ballots is currently being held at the National Printing Office in Quezon City.
"The printing of the test ballots is the first phase of and integral to the printing process. The printing of BSKE ballots officially commenced this noon," Comelec Acting Spokesperson John Rex Laudiangco said in an interview.
"The optimal capacity of each printer is one million ballots per day. We intend to fully utilize three printers," he added.
Laudiangco said they expect to finish the printing and verification of ballots in 45 days.
"We project completion of ballot printing in 30 days, with all processes completed (verification and all) for a total of 45 days," he said.
The Comelec led by Chairman George Garcia and NPO Dir. Carlos Bathan spearheaded the signing of the memorandum of agreement for the printing of official ballots and accountable forms in relation to the BSKE polls, Thursday.
