The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed a road access which it said is beneficial to local farmers in Ilocos Sur and likewise provides access to the Abra River Quarrying Site.
DPWH Region 1 Director Ronnel M. Tan said the new farm-to-market road in Barangay Nagpanaoan in the town of Santa would prosper local folks of their crops.
He said the new road is giving local farmers faster transportation of agricultural products, such as tobacco, corn, root crops, and vegetables, in nearby community markets and neighboring town capitals.
“We are hoping to support local productivity with this newly-improved road that passes through vast agricultural areas planted with rice, corn, vegetables, and farmlands which house various livestock,” said Tan.
Tan said the recently completed road project involved the widening and concreting of a one-lane road into two lanes.
A total of P14.48 million was allocated under the 2022 General Appropriations Act (GAA) for the completion of the project implemented by DPWH Ilocos Sur District Engineering Office.
