A woman has been arrested in Romblon for alleged online sexual exploitation of children, including her own daughter, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) said.
It said the woman was arrested during an entrapment operation conducted by the NBI’s Anti-Human Trafficking Division (NBI-AHTRAD), Philippine National Police (PNP), Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking (IACAT), and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
“The operation resulted in the arrest of the Subject and seizure of articles/items subject of the warrant,” said the NBI which noted that operatives were armed with a Warrant to Search, Seize and Examine Computer Data (WSSECD) issued by the Makati City Regional Trial Court (RTC).
“During the operation in San Fernando, Sibuyan Island, the operatives were able to rescue three (3) minor victims, including the Subject’s daughter,” it said.
The arrested woman was charged with violations of Republic Act (RA) 11862, the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2003; RA 11930, Anti-Online Sexual Abuse or Exploitation of Children (OSAEC) and Anti-Child Sexual Abuse or Exploitation Materials (CSAEM) Act; and RA 7610, the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act.
The rescued victims were “turned-over to the Office of the San Fernando Municipal Social Welfare Development for protective custody,” it said.
It noted that the NBI-AHTRAD acted on “information from the National Crime Agency (NCA) through the Philippine Internet Crimes Against Children Center (PICACC) regarding a certain individual who was sexually exploiting her minor daughter online.”
“Acting on the information, agents of NBI-AHTRAD conducted a series of surveillance operations and applied for a Warrant to Search, Seize and Examine Computer Data (WSSECD) with the Makati Regional Trial Court, which was immediately granted,” it said.
