QC gov't announces alternate routes for motorists on MMFF 2022 'Parade of Stars'

The local government of Quezon City has announced alternate routes for motorists during the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2022 “Parade of Stars” which will be held in Quezon City on Wednesday, Dec. 21.

The Parade of Stars will feature floats that will carry the actors of the eight movie entries for MMFF 2022.

The city government earlier announced that the parade will start at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, but the westbound direction of E. Rodriguez (from D. Tuazon to Mabuhay Rotonda) will be closed starting 3 p.m. on the same day. They will be reopened to motorists after all the floats pass by.

The parade will take Quezon Avenue starting from Mabuhay Rotonda going to Quezon Memorial Circle (QMC), where the MMFF's main activity will occur. It will cover a distance of 7.36 kilometers and is expected to take a minimum of two hours and 30 minutes.

The city government also advised motorists to avoid E. Rodriguez Avenue from Banawe to Mabuhay Rotonda on Tuesday night, Dec. 20, for the construction of the stage and float ingress.

In line with the event, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and the city government recommended alternate routes during the MMFF Parade of Stars.

Vehicles from Espana Boulevard going to Epifanio Delos Santos Avenue or QMC may turn right to Blumentritt Road, then left at Sto. Tomas Street or Matimyas Street, then turn right at Nicanor Street.

From Nicanor Street, they can turn left to Cordillera Street, right at E. Rodriguez Sr. Avenue, left to Tomas Morato, then right to Timog Avenue and towards East Avenue.

Motorist who are going to E. Rodriguez Sr. Avenue/QMC coming from Mayon Street may pass through Piy Margal Street, turn left at Blumentritt Road, left to Sto. Tomas or Matimyas Street, right at Nicanor Ramirez Street towards Cordillera Street, then right at E. Rodriguez Avenue. Those who are going to QMC may pass through Tomas Morato Avenue from E-Rodriguez Sr. Avenue, going to Timog Avenue towards East Avenue.

Vehicles from Espana Boulevard going to Del Monte and Avenues should take a u-turn at Mabuhay Rotonda to Blumentrit Road, turn right to Piy Margal Street, then left to Mayon Street going to their destination.

Those who are going to Manila from Quezon Avenue may turn right at D. Tuazon Street, left to Sen. Mariano Cuenco to Piy Margal Street, left to Blumentritt Road towards Espana Boulevard.

Meanwhile, vehicles from the Quezon Avenue Tunnel Up Ramp heading to Manila should turn right at Biak na Bato, left to Dapitan Street, left to Lacson Avenue going to Espana Boulevard.

The 48th MMFF will be officially open in theaters nationwide, starting Dec. 25 until Jan. 7, 2023.
