President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., Vice President Sara Duterte, and current Cabinet officials received “high” approval and trust ratings in a nationwide survey conducted by non-government organization RP-Mission and Development Foundation, Inc. (RPMD).
The results of the “Boses ng Bayan” survey released on Monday, Dec. 5, showed that 83 percent of respondents were satisfied with President Marcos’ job performance, while 81 percent expressed approval of Vice President Duterte, who is also the Secretary of the Department of Education.
Likewise, both President Marcos and Vice President Duterte received a high trust rating of 87 percent.
The independent and non-commissioned survey was conducted from Nov. 27 to Dec. 2 with 5,000 adult respondents nationwide.
RPMD noted that the performance and credibility of two of the country’s highest officials were rated highly across all regions and socioeconomic classes.
President Marcos got the highest approval and trust ratings in Mindanao with 87 percent and lowest in Metro Manila with 73 percent, while Vice President Duterte’s satisfaction rating was highest in Mindanao with 98 percent and lowest in the region of Luzon with 70 percent.
Trust, approval ratings of Marcos Cabinet
RPMD executive director Paul Martinez said Interior and Local Government Secretary Benhur Abalos Jr. ranked first with the highest approval rating of 78 percent and trust rating of 83 percent among Cabinet secretaries.
Information and Communications Technology Secretary Ivan John Uy, with 74 percent approval and 89 percent trust ratings; Budget and Management Secretary Amenah Pangandaman, with 73 percent approval and 67 percent trust ratings; Migrant Workers Secretary Susan Ople, with 71 percent approval and 68 percent trust ratings; and Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia-Frasco, with 70 percent approval and 65 percent trust ratings, came in at 2nd to 5th places, respectively.
At 6th to 10th places, respectively, were Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique Manalo ranked sixth, with 67 percent approval and 63 percent trust ratings; Social Welfare and Development Secretary Erwin Tulfo, with 65 percent approval and 70 percent trust ratings; Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista, with 63 percent approval and 60 percent trust ratings; Trade and Industry Secretary Alfredo Pascual, with 61 percent approval and 58 percent trust ratings; and former Justice Secretary, now Solicitor General Menardo Guevarra, with 58 percent approval and 65 percent trust ratings.
RPMD’s survey also covered trust and performance ratings of other top government officials, namely Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri, with 56 percent approval and 59 percent trust ratings; House Speaker Martin Romualdez, with 53 percent approval and 55 percent trust ratings; and Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo, with awareness score of 68 percent and approval score of 32 percent.
