Here’s how to turn your selfies into digital AI-powered artworks

In just one click, presto, you’re an instant digital artwork

Have you been seeing your friends on social media sporting new artsy renditions of themselves? You’re not alone. Thanks to an app called Lensa AI, anyone can have “magic avatars” of themselves.

Currently, Lensa AI holds the No. 1 spot on the iOS App Store, a testament to the popularity of the app. As of December 2022, YouTube is No. 3, and Instagram is No. 4 on the same app chart.

Your own digital artist
The process is simple. Once you download the app, you’ll be invited to use their free 7-day trial promo. Once signed up, users can then avail of their AI picture editing tools. We’re talking about the new “magic avatar” feature, wherein portraits are turned into fantastical digital artwork—wholly by artificial intelligence.

Lensa AI will ask for 10 to 20 photos from the user, which will then be uploaded to the “cloud.” After the upload, an AI software will process your photos. The software produces different art themes for the user. There’s Fantasy, Neo Noir, Pop Art, and more.

Note that while the use of the app is covered by the 7-day free trial, users will still need to pay at least $1.99 for the AI-created avatars. Here are the available packages to choose from.

Is your data safe?
Video and photo editing apps have a dubious history, and it is right to be wary of this kind of software. Some have malware, and users are suspicious about what happens to the uploaded photos after the AI has finished using it to create the digital artworks.

But users of Lensa AI can rest easy. According to TechCrunch, Prisma Labs (the creators of Lensa AI) uses Amazon Web Services (AWS) to process the images. Images are immediately deleted after the AI modeling software uses the data, according to the software developer.

Join the bandwagon
Local personalities are already joining in on the whole AI-powered digital artwork craze created by Lensa AI. Supermodel and host Joey Mead King and pastry chef Miko Aspiras showed off different AI-created images of themselves on their official IG pages.

Photographer and graphic designer Samantha Godinez-Valenciano also showed off her AI generated portraits on Instagram, as well as celebrity and fashion stylist Matt Gozun.
