Israel shares water problem solutions with PH

Israel has helped the Philippines learn how to manage its water challenges by sharing its expertise on the problem.

Israel Ambassador to the Philippines Ilan Fluss presented his country's innovation and technology in addressing water challenges through a seminar attended by various government agencies, the private sector and members of academe last week.

Flus said Israel, which also faces water challenges as it is mostly desert land, invested in technology to support the growing demand and urbanization in the country.

"The technologies were introduced together with good policies and regulations that made Israel the leading country in the world in managing the water sector," he said.

Efforts were made from desalination to reuse of sewage to minimum loss of water, Flus added.

"Through this seminar, we hope that the Philippines' key implementing agencies will gain insights from the Israeli experience and adapt them to local conditions," he said. Like all countries in the region, Israel faced a variety of challenges in the water sector.

During the event, Israeli companies also shared Israel's innovation and technology to inspire and encourage the Philippine water sector, businesses, and local government units to invest in technologies that will help manage water sustainably.
