NPA commanding officer yields in Mountain Province


PARACELIS, Mountain Province – A New People’s Army leader surrendered to authorities on Wednesday, Nov. 16, in Camp Henry T. Acmor, Barangay Butigue, here.

The surrenderer was identified as Arnold Quelang Baquiran, 42, alias “Cobra,” of Sitio Pagga, Barangay Bantay, this town.

Baquiran is the commanding officer of the New People’s Army in the Barrio of the Milisyang Bayan, Komiteng Probinsyang Isabela, in San Mariano, Isabela.

He turned over one Springfield caliber .30 Garand rifle with five bullets and nine 40mm ammunition for a M203 grenade launcher.

Lt. Gen. Ernesto Torres Jr., Armed Forces Northern Luzon Command chief, welcomed the surrenderer and attributed his surrender to the relentless community support programs of the military in the area and Baquiran’s genuine intent for peace and reformation.
