Marcos eyes ‘no more hungry’ Pinoys

“No more hungry Filipinos.”

That was what President Marcos told the Filipino community in Thailand when he talked about his response every time he was asked what he was aspiring for.

In meeting with the Filipino community after participating in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meetings on Saturday, the President also made a promise to do everything to boost the economy and provide more jobs to his constituents.

He wanted that to happen because “once we have achieved that, we can say that we, in the public service, have done a good job and will not embarrass ourselves that you gave us your support.”

“Ang magagawa nalang namin ay ang magsukli sa inyo ng magandang trabaho, ng aming pagtulong sa ating bansa (What we can only do is to pay back for the good job you’ve done, for helping our country),” he told a gathering of mostly overseas Filipino worker (OFWs) in Bangkok.

Meanwhile, the President said the establishment of a new Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) in Thailand will help Filipinos in the promotion of their rights and welfare there.

Marcos said the new office will be a “big” help as it will allow the government to attend to the needs of Filipinos living and working in the Kingdom.

He said the government is aiming to invest more money and boost the economy to give more opportunities to the people, particularly in the field of agriculture.
