MSU office complex soon to rise in Metro Manila: DPWH

After six decades of planning, the construction of the four-storey Manila Liaisons Office Complex for the Mindanao State University (MSU) in Mandaluyong City is now underway with its recent groundbreaking ceremony, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said on Monday, Nov. 7.

DPWH-National Capital Region (NCR) Director Loreta M. Malaluan said the structure is a future home away from home for the 11 campuses of the MSU, its officials with its Manila Liaison Information Office having working spaces in the office complex, flexibility being offered to its personnel, clients and partners to visit and learn more about the university.

The project costs P77 million.

“May Ingat, Kalidad, at Bilis”, the MSU Manila Office is the pledge of the DPWH NCR in the construction and delivery of the beneficial building to its system.

DPWH undersecretary Robert Bernardo noted that conference halls and multi-purpose rooms will also be provided to accommodate the MSU’s activities, meetings, and conferences citing that it differs from other buildings since it is the integration of the Mindanaoan and Muslim heritage in the architectural and interior works, as the topmost penthouse is dedicated for the exhibition of their rich culture.

DPWH NCR Assistant Regional Director Juby B. Cordon recognized the importance of the building to students of MSU, aside from its convenience but also to its role in bringing more opportunities of partnership with both foreign and local organizations.

On the other hand, MSU System president Basari Dimakuta Mapupuno expressed his gratitude to the DPWH’s contribution in the realization of the building project that will improve their services, expand reach and opportunity, and in shaping the future of the university. (Chito A. Chavez)
