BuCor has new public information chief

The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) has named Corrections Chief Insp. Eusebio B. del Rosario Jr. as the new head of its public information office (PIO).

Del Rosario took over the post vacated by Corrections Chief Supt. Julie May C. Taguiam, a lawyer.

The appointment of Del Rosario was confirmed on Wednesday, Nov. 2, by BuCor Deputy Director General Gabriel P. Chaclag, BuCor’s former spokesperson.

Del Rosario was appointed by BuCor Officer-in-Charge Gregorio Pio Catapang Jr., the former chief of staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

Catapang took over the post of BuCor Director General Gerald Q. Bantag who was placed under preventive suspension last Oct. 21 with the death last Oct. 18 of Jun Globa Villamor, the alleged middleman in the killing of radio commentator Percival Mabasa, better known as Percy Lapid.

Both the deaths of Percy Lapid and Villamor at still under investigation jointly by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and the Philippine National Police (PNP).

Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin C. Remulla had said the investigations are expected to be terminated this week and the masterminds in both killings are expected to be revealed.
