AKF leads egg-themed food fair

Nothing less of egg-citing, the Animal Kingdom Foundation (AKF), a non-profit animal welfare non-government organization (NGO), celebrated their farm animal welfare campaign in conjunction with the annual World Egg Day thru a wonderful feast of egg-based dishes last Oct. 9 at Glorietta Palm Drive Activity Center.

The Eggspectacular Food Fair featured a variety of goodies using eggs as their main ingredient. But apart from using eggs, this food fair also wants its goers to know that their food should only not taste good but also be sourced responsibly by using Cage-Free Eggs!

Cage-Free eggs come from hens that are raised in a stress-free environment where they are given ample space and can perform their natural behaviors. AKF has been actively campaigning for better food choices through its “Cage-Free, Go Cruel-Free!” campaign. It is aimed at encouraging consumers to patronize cage-free eggs to reduce the cruelty against egg-laying hens as majority of them are still contained in battery cages.

Brands paving the way for the cage-free campaign like Bounty Fresh and Universal Robina Corporation participated. Hearty meals using eggs were served by Egg Drop MNL, Home Table Deli, and LJ’s Food House. Sweet treats from Tipsy Cream Manila, Eggs Inc., and Baking Paws were also present. Meanwhile, Bayanihan Poultry PH, Dominant Live Genetics, and Pink Hen represent our responsible farms tending to cage-free laying hens.

This food fair is not only filled with egg-based dishes, but it also did not come short of feeding the people with information about eggs. AKF lead the information drive about their campaign which highlighted the event’s purpose. To spice things up, a cooking demonstration from actress and animal welfare advocate, Sharmaine Arnaiz came through. She was followed by Bounty Fresh's very own Chef Dan Libunao who also showcased how you can make egg-based meals more enticing.

This event is hosted by AKF’s Cage-Free, Go Cruel Free campaign team in partnership with Ayala Mall Glorietta. This is the event’s first iteration and expects more in the future.
