P1 million worth of shabu seized from drug runner in Iloilo buy-bust

ILOILO CITY -- More than P1 million worth of shabu was seized from a lone drug runner during a buy-bust operation in Pototan town, Iloilo province.

The suspect was identified as 21-year-old Lance Peñafiel Florida, a resident of Rizal Street.

Florida was arrested after trying to sell P100,000 worth of shabu to an undercover cop in an operation conducted by Iloilo Police Provincial Office-Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (IPPO-PDEU) on Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 25.

After the arrest, cops were also able to seize more than 150 grams of shabu from Florida.

Captain Francis Albert Fortunado of IPPO-PDEU said that Florida has been identified as the delivery boy of a major drug group operating in the 3rd District of Iloilo province.

According to Fortunado, it took months in trying to conduct an anti-drug operation against Florida since the latter would drop the illegal drug somewhere and payment will be made via GCash.

But the undercover cop was able to convince Florida to have a face-to-face transaction.

Florida will be charged for violating Republic Act No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
