China won’t bring war, colonization to PH — envoy

China’s top diplomat in Manila on Tuesday gave assurance that China is not bringing war nor colonization to the Philippines.

Instead, China, which is on its path to modernization, will bring cooperation and friendship, Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Huang Xilian added.

Amid unresolved disputes over the South China Sea that raised concerns of the Western powers, Huang believed it is “normal” for the two countries to have differences as they are both neighbors.

But the key for this is to “place differences in the proper position of China-Philippines relations” as well as “not let them affect or even sabotage the overall situation of the relations between the two countries.”

At the Pandesal Forum, Huang also gave assurance that part of China’s peaceful development is to “promote China and the Philippines’ efforts to jointly maintain peace and stability in the region.”

“China and the Philippines are good neighbors, good relatives, and good partners, and traditional friendship has a long history,” he said.
