The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and concerned local government units so far provided almost P8 million worth of relief assistance to families that were affected by the onslaught of typhoon Neneng (international name: Nesat) over the weekend.
Based on the report of the DSWD’s Disaster Response Operations Monitoring and Information Center, P7.98 million worth of assistance was already distributed to the affected areas in Regions 1, 2, and Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), as of 6 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 18.
Neneng has affected 45,130 families or 156,083 individuals from 398 barangays.
There are 225 families or 753 persons currently staying in 19 evacuation centers, while 421 families or 1,438 individuals are staying with relatives or friends.
DSWD has over P1.88-billion worth of relief resources, comprising P866 million standby funds or quick response fund and P1.01-billion worth of stockpiles that are readily available for distribution.
