‘Oriental Winter Wonderland’ featured in Christmas Village in Baguio City

BAGUIO CITY – A treat of something ‘Oriental’ awaits residents and tourists in the exciting Christmas Village here.

The Baguio Country Club has adopted a theme aptly called ‘Oriental Winter Wonderland’ in the Christmas Village to bring joy to residents and tourists in the Summer Capital.

"Our design this year is more structures in the famous parks in Japan and Korea and the costumes are meant to be authentic,” said Andrew Pinero, communication officer of the BCC.

“We added more lights and as soon as you enter the BCC road, the lights will greet the visitors as has been the custom in recent years, using eco-friendly environmental materials," added Pinero.

The Christmas Village opened on Monday, Oct. 10, but its grand opening according to Pinero will be on Oct. 29.

Pinero said that in the 11th year of the Christmas Village that has a different theme every year, the excitement of the children will not be lost, the artificial snow has now been added so that the visitors and the nativity pageant can enjoy even more shows every night.

Snow show, live musical performance, coplay busking, picture with Santa and Japanese and Korean characters, wishing wall and food stalls can also be seen in the village.

It was in 2011 when the employees of the BCC, an exclusive membership resort here, first came up with a Christmas Village with the aim of giving a new attraction to their members and to the Baguio community as a whole, including the tourists.

It was appreciated by the residents. So, the following year, the employees again came up with a Christmas Village. While it did not carry a theme, the consensus to use recycled environment-friendly materials for the display was carried and used.

"We make sure that the visitors can also enjoy the food concessionaires that we have placed inside the village and we have also placed more chairs for our senior citizens and PWD's," Pinero said.

The Christmas Village, which will end on January 8, 2023, is open to the public from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
