CEBU CITY -- The top police official here would want to see more disciplined personnel under his watch.
Col. Ireneo Dalogdog, the newly installed chief of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO), said he will be instilling discipline in the 1,200-strong CCPO in support of Mayor Michael Rama’s ‘Oplan Disiplina.’ Personnel of the 11 police stations in the city should be well-groomed and their offices must be neat at all times, Dalogdog said.
“Policemen sporting mustaches and long hair is prohibited. They must observe proper wearing of uniforms,” said Dalogdog.
Dalogdog said policemen should be mindful that smoking in offices is strictly prohibited.
Dalogdog noted that the city has launched ‘Oplan Disiplina’ that saw several apprehensions of individuals caught smoking in public places.
“Non-smoking in police precincts and offices is part of the Oplan Disiplina,” Dalogdog said.
Dalogdog added that he will be conducting surprise visits to check if his order is properly observed.
Dalogdog was appointed as chief of CCPO on Oct. 1. The former chief of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group- Central Visayas replaced Col. Ernesto Tagle.
Dalogdog warned that he will not hesitate to penalize those CCPO personnel who will be caught engaging in any form of illegal activity.
“I have yet to reprimand a single police officer. As far as I know, we have good police officers here but if ever we discover a policeman who is involved in illegal activities or irregularities, we will not hesitate to impose necessary punishment,” Dalogdog said.
Dalogdog likewise reminded station commanders to increase police visibility in their areas as petty crimes are expected to increase with the approaching holiday season.
“It is expected that crimes would increase as Christmas is fast approaching as well as the Sinulog. The police should be more visible so that their presence will be felt by the public. This is the best crime-deterrence,” said Dalogdog.
