Cloudy, rainy weekend in Southern Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao due to ITCZ, LPA

(MANILA BULLETIN)

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the combined effects of a low pressure area (LPA) and intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) will bring cloudy skies and rains over Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao this weekend.

In its weekly weather outlook released on Friday, Oct. 7, PAGASA said rains may prevail in Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao from Saturday to Sunday, Oct. 8 to Oct. 10

It warned of possible flooding or landslides, especially in areas vulnerable to these hazards in Western Visayas.

Meanwhile, the rest of Luzon will have partly cloudy skies in the morning with chances of rain showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon or evening.

By Tuesday, Oct. 11, PAGASA said the whole archipelago will have cloudy skies with occasional rain showers and thunderstorms because of the approaching low pressure system.

“Flash floods and landslides are expected specifically over the identified prone areas,” it added.

By Wednesday, Oct. 12, Luzon may have cloudy skies with occasional rains, while Visayas and Mindanao may have partly cloudy skies with chances of rain showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon or evening.

By Thursday to Friday, Oct. 13 to 14, the western section of Northern and Central Luzon will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms, while the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with afternoon rain showers and thunderstorms.
