FLAG seeks swift arrest, filing of charges vs killers of radio broadcaster Percy Lapid

Free Legal Assistance Group

The Free Legal Assistance Group (FLAG) on Tuesday, Oct. 4, called on authorities to bring to justice those behind the killing of hard-hitting radio commentator Percival Mabasa, also known as Percy Lapid over DWBL radio.

“Nananawagan din tayo sa awtoridad na tiyaking mapapanagot sa batas ang may kagagawan sa pagpaslang sa kanya (We appeal to authorities to make sure that those behind the crime are held liable),” FLAG said through the Facebook post of its Chairman Jose Manuel “Chel” L. Diokno.

“Malaking kawalan si Ka Percy Lapid sa mundo ng pamamahayag (Percy is big loss to the broadcasting world),” Diokno said.

“Pambihira ang ipinakita niyang tapang sa kabila ng mga nakaambang panganib sa kanyang buhay (He has shown extraordinary bravery despite the threats against his life),” he pointed out.

FLAG, through Diokno, condoled with the family and loved ones of Mabasa who was ambushed by still unidentified suspects in Las Pinas City last Monday night, Oct. 3.

Reports stated that the shooting took place at the gate of BF Resort subdivision along Aria Street in Barangay Talon 2.

The same reports stated that Mabasa was about to enter the gate of the subdivision while driving his vehicle when its rear portion was bumped by a white Toyota Fortuner and the suspect who was riding a motorcycle shot the broadcast journalist.
