Forty-three persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) at the Leyte Regional Prison (LRP) in Abuyog, Leyte have pleaded for the grant of parole or executive clemency.
Bureau of Corrections’ (BuCor) chief of the public information office (PIO) Corrections Chief Supt. Julie May C. Taguiam said the 43 PDLs have been interviewed by the regional office of the Parole and Probation Administration (PPA).
“As per record, the PPA through the assistance of the Inmate Documents and Processing Section headed by CSO4 Maximo R. Marcos II has interviewed a total of 176 PDL starting from May 30, 2022, up to Sept. 29, 2022,” Taguiam said.
“The Bureau, under the headship of Director General Gerald Q. Bantag and with the full support of C/CInsp. Pablito A. Jacinto, acting superintendent of LRP, continues to expedite the processing of the most qualified soon-to-be released PDLs in preparation for their release to rejoin the community,” she said.
Last Sept. 13 during the birthday of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., 30 PDLs were released from the LRP. A total of 371 PDLs from various detention facilities of BuCor was released during President Marcos Jr.’s birthday.
