Over P19M worth of cocaine intercepted at NAIA, American arrested


Government anti-narcotics authorities arrested an American passenger on Tuesday, Sept. 27, after he yielded more than P19 million worth of illegal drugs at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).

The Philippine Drug Enforcement (PDEA) Regional Office National Capital Region (PDEA RO-NCR) reported that the NAIA-Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Group (NAIA-IADIG) nabbed retired casino manager Stephen Joseph Szuhar, 75, of Tampa, Florida at the Customs International Arrival Area of the NAIA Terminal 3 at 8:00 p.m.

Upon a thorough search, the operatives confiscated one black luggage labeled ‘YIN'S’ containing assorted clothes, several pieces of carbon paper, three improvised pouches made of packaging tape each containing white powdering substance.

Initial report disclosed that Szuhar arrived in the country from Doha, Qatar via Qatar Airways Flight QR 932.

The suspect is now detained at the PDEA RO NCR Custodial Jail Facility and is now undergoing interrogation to determine if he is a member of an international drug syndicate operating in the country.
