BIÑAN CITY, Laguna – The city government here evacuated 257 individuals from flood-prone areas amid the onslaught of Typhoon Karding on Sunday, Sept. 25.
On Monday, Sept. 26, the Biñan City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (CDRRMO) told the Manila Bulletin that 257 individuals or 55 families spent the night in six evacuation centers in the city.
Most of the evacuated families were from Barangays Malaban and Dela Paz, both of which lie along the shores of Laguna de Bay and beside the Biñan River.
At 3 a.m., the water level of Biñan River reached level 4 or the critical level. The river is a catch basin for water coming from higher areas in nearby Cavite, including Carmona, General Mariano Alvarez, and Silang.
With less rainfall over the past hours, the water level in Biñan River has gone down to level 2 as of 8:19 a.m.
