Filipinos safe in Mexico after 7.7-magnitude quake — DFA


All Filipinos in Mexico were reported safe following a powerful earthquake that hit the country, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said Tuesday.

Citing information from the Philippine Embassy in Mexico, DFA spokesperson Ma. Teresita Daza said all 1,200 Filipinos there were in good condition.

This, as a 7.7-magnitude quake jolted the southwestern coast of Mexico, with at least one person reported dead.

Tremors were also felt by residents in the capital, Mexico City, which is located some four-hour drive from the epicenter.

There are 800 Filipinos living in Mexico City, Daza added.
