Bureau of Corrections

The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) has advised applicants for corrections officers to submit their documents personally to its headquarters in Muntinlupa City or to the offices of its prison facilities.

It said it had stopped accepting applications through online or courier service which was done at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Earlier, BuCor had announced it has 1,316 vacant positions for corrections officers for deployment in its seven prison facilities nationwide.

Applicants for corrections officers should be Filipino citizens, of good moral character, have a baccalaureate degree from a recognized learning institution, and have the appropriate civil service eligibility.

They should not have been dishonorably discharged or dismissed for cause from previous employment as well as not convicted by final judgment of an offense or crime involving moral turpitude.

Male applicants should be at least 1.57 meters in height, while female applicants should be at least 1.52 meters tall.

BuCor said that “a waiver for height and age requirement/s may be granted to applicants belonging to the cultural communities.”

It said it will accept applicants who are 40 years old pursuant to Republic Act No. 10575, the Bureau of Corrections Act of 2013.

However, it said applicants above 36 years of age will have to sign a waiver agreeing that they may not be able to qualify for the full retirement benefits afforded to uniformed officers of the BuCor.

It also said “applicants must submit their application personally to Recruitment Office, National Headquarters, New Bilibid Prison, Muntinlupa City for applicants of NCR (National Capital Region) and other nearby provinces around Luzon,” the bureau said.

“Applicants from other regions may pass their application folder to the nearest colony/operating prison and penal farm (OPPF),” it added.
